Position Title: Account Manager (AM) 

Reports To: Sales Manager 

Job Summary: An Account Manager is responsible to execute the day-to-day operations for a customer account, working with both the customer shipping personnel and RJ Logistics carrier sales personnel, to provide the best possible service to the customer – for a profit.  

Responsibilities 

  • Learn all customer expectations, processes and KPI’s 
  • Understand the customers shipping network 
  • Identify and communicate with all customer shipping personnel daily 
  • Set up and manage all shipments in the TMS 
  • Confirm appointments and requirements for all shipments 
  • Help grow the volume, revenue, and margin on customer accounts  
  • CRM usage as needed 
  • Daily interaction with Carrier Sales Team  
  • Problem Solving with customer focused solutions 
  • Rate Negotiations for available spot shipments  
  • Industry & Market Knowledge 
  • Build relationships with internal and external key stakeholders  
  • Check-ins with Customer Sales Executive as needed  
  • Proactive Communication  
  • Build Rapport & Have fun

Job Description 

As an Account Manager, you will be expected to be able to complete the following tasks: 

  • Execute all TMS functions related to operating the account for every load 
  • Work with Carrier Sales team to support best possible load and lane coverage  
  • Partner with Carrier Sales team with new lane or load opportunities 
  • Quote ad-hoc or spot shipments daily for customer 
  • Proactively seek out more business from customer  
  • Provide regular updates on shipment statuses to customers as needed  
  • Communicate regularly with Customer Sales Executive on status of account 
  • Understand and review customer profile and SOP 
  • Identify and adhere to all customer KPI’s 
  • Update Customer Profiles and SOP’s as needed  
  • Assist with all customer bids as needed  
  • Escalate all serious issues to management and CSE on account  
  • Assist with any AR / AP problems as needed  
  • Continuous understanding and knowledge of market conditions and industry trends 
  • Build rapport with all internal and external key stakeholders  
  • Must meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly Account Management KPI’s
