Job Summary:  A Carrier Sales Associate is responsible for growing and maintaining partner carrier relationships along with pairing their available trucks with RJ Logistics available loads.

Job Description 

As a Carrier Sales Associate, you will be expected to be able to complete the following tasks; 

  • Conduct skilled negotiations around pricing for ad hoc and dedicated business 
  • Provide feedback to CSR team on market conditions on a shipment by shipment or lane by lane basis 
  • Possess the ability to strategically match open carrier equipment with available loads 
  • Must have industry knowledge and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing market conditions 
  • Must be able to think strategically and quickly regarding unique challenges that face the transportation industry  
  • Create, build and maintain relationships with service providers 
  • Conduct performance reviews based on service provider KPIs 
  • Schedule and partake in RFQs, review and make recommendations based on multiple criteria to award business 
  • Learn the craft of selling while continuously growing sales skills, utilize resources both internally and externally 
  • Update our systems with carrier availability and capacity 
  • Meet or exceed daily, weekly, monthly benchmarks

  • Basic understanding of the transportation industry  
  • Basic terminology around carrier contracts and rate agreements

  • Participate in meetings when required 
  • Interaction with multiple departments when required 
  • Perform additional tasks when requested by management

  • Some reporting and analysis
